Nashville Flood May 2010
May 2010 03

So if you haven’t heard it stormed like crazy in Nashville this past weekend; I woke up at 5:00 a.m. yesterday to a tornado siren, there have been non stop thunderstorms, insane rain, and quite a bit of flooding. I believe the previous flood record has been shattered; the Cumberland has risen to well over 50 feet. Keith and I went to river front in downtown Nashville around 5:00 p.m. last night after the rain calmed down to see how high the river had risen. River Front park was completely underwater, but the river hadn’t yet risen up to street level (it was about 4 feet under it). Well, we woke up really early and decided to go check things out again. The river had risen far more. Parts of first and second ave were completely underwater. Shops, restaurants, and apartments in that area are literally filled with water; it’s absolutely crazy. We made it up onto the bridge and got some pictures as the sun started to come up. You can check out the rest of the set here.

BFF Memphis
May 2010 07

So there’s finally some word on this year’s Bicycle Film Festival in Memphis. Check out the schedule and more info at Fix Memphis. Last year was a lot of fun, except for the fact that I had just been hit by a car and was in horrible pain. Definitely looking forward to this year though. Hopefully I won’t break any more forks, crash during the roller races, or wreck during the party and walk around all bloody this year (yes, that is how hard I ride). Skumlife will, once again, be hosting the roller races this year. Here are some of the photos from last year.

Wrecked My Face
May 2010 23

I was riding to the Hood Internet show last night with Keef and Mike when I ramped off of a fucked up part of the road which basically launched me into a sign pole. I knocked the wind out of me and spit up a bunch of blood. My arm and shoulder are pretty scratched up and bruised. Worst of all, I chipped three of my teeth very badly; basically, I look super ugly now. And I missed the show because I was stuck in the E.R. all night. These are just phone pics, I’ll post better ones later.

Profile Fixed
May 2010 28

I got all my Profile parts in for my new 14 Bike Co ESB build. I have to say, I am incredibly lucky to get to ride for Profile. These parts look sick, and I cannot wait to start riding with them! I got their fixed/fixed hubs, no-boss cranks, spline drive, bb, and cogs. Thanks so much to Christian at Profile for helping me out and giving me this opportunity!

2010 Summer Crits
May 2010 29

The 2010 Criterium Race Series started last Wednesday. Keith and I went out and watched since I’m not back on the bike yet. My shoulder is still really hurting, but I’m getting really anxious to do some riding. Hopefully, I’ll feel good enough to race this week. Races are held on various Wednesdays throughout the summer (May 26; June 16, 23, 30; July 14, 21, 28; August 11, 18, 25). Registration begins at 5:00 p.m., and you need a USAC license to race (I believe you can purchase one there if you don’t already have one). More info on the crit series at Nashville Cyclist.
