So if you haven’t heard it stormed like crazy in Nashville this past weekend; I woke up at 5:00 a.m. yesterday to a tornado siren, there have been non stop thunderstorms, insane rain, and quite a bit of flooding. I believe the previous flood record has been shattered; the Cumberland has risen to well over 50 feet. Keith and I went to river front in downtown Nashville around 5:00 p.m. last night after the rain calmed down to see how high the river had risen. River Front park was completely underwater, but the river hadn’t yet risen up to street level (it was about 4 feet under it). Well, we woke up really early and decided to go check things out again. The river had risen far more. Parts of first and second ave were completely underwater. Shops, restaurants, and apartments in that area are literally filled with water; it’s absolutely crazy. We made it up onto the bridge and got some pictures as the sun started to come up. You can check out the rest of the set here.

Just for some perspective, these are photos of the same exact place before and after the flood; note the railroad crossing sign, the Demonbreum Cave sign, and the train station, all of which are above where I’m sitting (look carefully at the background) and covered in water in the post flood pictures.
