The Boombox Project
Feb 2012 02

The Boombox Project is a short documentary by Paul Stone about Lyle Owerko’s project of the same name.  The video is a little less than a year old.  The book was released a little more than a year ago.  The project dates back to 2008.  All are great work.  The video is a short and sweet piece featuring Owerko, New York City, and his vast collection of vintage shoulder wear.

Lyle Owerko is best known for his Time magazine cover of the 9/11 tragedy featuring his iconic photograph of the World Trade Center.  The Boombox Project hits a lighter beat, but echoes a work that is oh so NY.  The boombox is as synonymous with NYC as the Statue of Liberty.  The B-boy coffee table dream centerpiece is available at your local bookstore.  If it isn’t, you need to find a new bookstore.  Check out the video to get pumped for your new purchase.  After that go check out the rest of Lyle Owerko’s work at his site.
